The Kinja Terms of Service says in the advertising section, near the top...
We will insert affiliate links into your content where it makes sense, however, if you insert your own affiliate codes then we won’t remove them
Then down below, under the "you will not"...
engage in any commercial activities, including, without limitation, any attempt to raise money for anyone or advertise or promote a product, service, website, pyramid scheme or other multi-tiered marketing scheme, without the prior consent of the Company
I just suggested to someone asking for expanded coverage of British media that maybe they could cover it on their own Kinja and sample it on Odeck, plus maybe something will get crossposted to the main. Because I was genuinely curious, I pulled-up the ToS and thought the offer of allowing affiliate links was great until I scrolled down.
Does anyone have any info or clarification on this? The two parts appear almost contradictory, unless they mean that we can change any affiliate links inserted by the system to our own codes, but there doesn't appear to be any auto-generated affilite links being inserted now, so it's not really clear what they mean.
